Study of brushes 4- Filbert

One of my favorite type of brushes is a filbert. A filbert brush is essentially a flat brush and a round brush combined to make a paint brush that is very versitile. Even though filberts get smaller the more you use them, they still do the same thing as if they were new. Filbert's can make a large stroke or a thin stoke depending on which way it faces: Side= thin stroke Flat= wide stroke. These brushes are useful for creating flowers, petals, leaves, and landscapes as well as ceramic and glass paintings. They were also very good for blending and I was taught many techniques using this brush. One technique in particular was starting out flat and then slowly turning the brush onto its side.
